Workplace incivility, abrasion and abusive conduct are increasingly common and recognized behaviors with highly damaging results to individuals, teams and organizations. This seminar addresses the suffering that results from leaders who use abrasive and abusive behaviors to motivate their employees and teams. Specifically, it describes the behavioral warning signs and environmental impact on the organization and its employees.  Using the stages of wildfire, participants can use an assessment model to determine the seriousness and longevity of the problem.

As a result of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Create self-awareness and critical thinking about the impact of abrasive behaviors
  • Define the progressive stages and severity of abrasive behaviors
  • Identify intervention strategies to address destructive behaviors and diminish the damage
I really appreciate the Wildfire analogy to identify the leadership behavior. Great starting point to help aligning leaders.

I cannot do justice in words to explain how much we enjoyed your presentation! We feel fortunate to have had someone with your depth of knowledge and experiences engage our group and provide us an opportunity to learn and improve. The tools you left us with will allow the participants to find solutions to tough situations in both personal and professional arenas. Your inspiration is contagious!
Chris Slowley, VP of Events, National Association for Female Executives
Pattie gave a luncheon keynote for our group's annual conference, and in 45 short minutes she
had us laughing, sharing personal stories and opinions with each other, and then thinking seriously about how to "take the high road" with the difficult people in our lives. Pattie's style is genuine and she's easy to listen to. She was very well prepared and yet spontaneous with natural and informed responses to audience questions.

This was the first time we've featured a session like hers –titled Dealing with Difficult People
and it was extremely well received. Whatever a group's main agenda may be, inserting
a period in which to help people cope with toxic co-workers and difficult situations is a
profitable departure from the norm, and for us, it was time well spent."
