Conflict Dynamics Profile®
Conflict is a natural and
necessary part of life. It occurs when there is a perceived threat or a
need that is not being met. Conflict results from differences in goals,
values, perceptions, and beliefs and exists in families, social
settings, interactions with friends, our bosses and co-workers, and
communities. The questions that beg to be answered...
- -
How do you respond and manage your behavioral responses to conflict?
- -
How do your behaviors contribute to a constructive outcome versus a
destructive and potentially damaging outcome?
- -
What triggers you and how do you handle those "hot buttons?"
Understanding our behavioral responses and managing conflict
constructively and effectively helps us to grow, change and develop
over time.
Conflict Connections offers individuals and organizations an
opportunity to utilize the Conflict Dynamics Profile® which is an assessment
instrument. It provides a powerful way to improve self-awareness of
what triggers conflict in individuals as well as how they respond to
it. Based on these triggers and responses, the CDP then provides
practical approaches for improving behaviors that promote more
effective conflict management.
The CDP's focus on conflict behaviors, rather than
styles, emphasizes an action-oriented approach which lessens the
problems associated with harmful or unproductive forms of conflict and
results in more effective conflict management skills. The CDP comes in
both 360° and individual versions. The individual version is a
"self-report" as it only looks at how you view yourself. Whereas, the
360° is a full spectrum tool which gives not only your self view
but also delineates feedback from bosses, peers and direct reports.
The instrument produces a complete "conflict profile" by providing
feedback on...
- What provokes an individual
- How an individual perceives the way he or she typically responds
to conflict
- How others view the individual responding to conflict
- How the individual responds before, during and after conflict
- Which behaviors harm one's position in a particular organization
